Code of Conduct

INTRODUCTION

Majestic Elementary is an excellent school where the administrators, teachers, students, and staff work together to create a clean, safe learning environment. As we work together, we will have an effective school where students feel confident, safe, and happy while they learn.

At Majestic Elementary, the following P.R.I.D.E. expectations will be followed:

I am a Majestic Mountain Lion. I take PRIDE in all I do. 

Polite - I am polite. I do my best each day to respect myself and others.

Responsible - I am responsible. I arrive on time each day, complete all of my assignments, and do what I say I will do.

Independent - I am independent. I motivate myself to do great things and accept the consequences of my actions.

Disciplined - I am disciplined. I follow all of the rules and act as an example to all who see me. 

Empowered - I am empowered. I have the ability to accomplish anything I put my mind to, and will not make excuses. 

SAFE SCHOOL POLICY

The following conduct is considered dangerous and/or disruptive and is prohibited on school property at any time.

1. Possessing or bringing any potentially harmful item (including but not limited to guns, knives, weapons, explosives, poisonous items, or flammable materials).
2. Possessing or bringing any item that cannot be legally possessed by a juvenile (including but not limited to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or unauthorized medication).
3. Possessing or bringing any facsimile of the items mentioned in #1-2 (including, but not limited to toy guns, pocket knives, drug paraphernalia, or items represented as drugs).
4. Attempting, threatening, conspiring, or committing any act that could result in harm to others or to the school (including but not limited to stealing, vandalism, assault, arson, sexual harassment, bullying, or gang-related activities).

RESTROOM CONDUCT

Students are expected to show good judgment and proper behavior in all restroom areas.

• Cleanliness and good healthy habits are very important. Always flush the toilet and wash your hands.
• Be considerate of the people using the restroom after you. Please leave it clean.
• Restrooms are not places to meet with your friends.
• Students who write on walls or damage restroom property will be expected to pay for those repairs and receive appropriate disciplinary action.

BIKES, SCOOTERS, SKATEBOARDS, ROLLER BLADES

The school cannot assume responsibility for stolen, lost, or damaged bikes or scooters. Majestic provides bike racks and cages to secure bikes and scooters. For added security, however, you will want to provide your student with a bike or scooter lock. Scooters must be stored in the bike rack. There is not enough space in the classrooms to store scooters. Students are not allowed to ride their bikes or scooters during school hours. They must walk their bikes or scooters while on school grounds and while crossing at the cross walks. Students are not allowed to play in or around the bike cages or climb on the fences.
SKATEBOARDS or ROLLER BLADES are never allowed at school due to the danger they pose and because of problems with storage. Few items of play equipment are more responsible for hurting or injuring children than skateboards. For this reason, we would ask you not to allow them to come to school with your student.

Motorized Scooters: We want all parents and students to be aware that motorized scooters are not allowed on school grounds per district policy. Students may bring scooters, bikes and skateboards to school, but students must walk their wheels on the school grounds. Thank you for helping us reinforce this policy.

BUILDING CONDUCT

Running in the school is not allowed. Students will be expected to leave and enter the building in an orderly, quiet and safe manner, using their proper doors. Students are also expected to walk to their activity areas in a line as directed by their teacher. Toys and any other items considered disruptive to the learning environment should not be brought to school.

SPECIAL PROGRAM CONDUCT

We have arranged for some special programs to come to our school. These programs are for the education and enjoyment of all the students. When we are in the auditorium, it is always for a special occasion. Students and parents should show respect to performers in the following ways:

1. Be attentive and remain quietly seated during the performance.
2. It is proper to show your appreciation for a job well done by politely applauding. (Neither whistling nor booing is appropriate).
3. Enter and exit the auditorium quickly and quietly at the direction of your teacher.

PLAYGROUND CONDUCT

Playground rules are necessary to contribute to the overall safety and enjoyment for the entire student body while enjoying recess:

1. Students should not play in the following areas:
   • Front lawns or sidewalks.
   • Any of the parking lots.
   • Black top areas that cannot be seen by the playground supervisors.
   • Bike racks.
   • On trees.
   • By or behind sheds or portable classrooms.
2. Balls, jump ropes, swings, slides, and other equipment should be used properly and safely.
3. Allow all students to participate in organized games (i.e. soccer, basketball, softball, etc.)
4. Contact games that include tackling, tripping, wrestling, or pushing will not be permitted at school.
5. Leave snow and rocks on the ground. Throwing objects of any kind is not permitted on the school grounds.
6. Sliding on the ice or lawns is not permitted.
7. Treat supervising adults with respect.
8. Fighting is not allowed on our campus. No one will be allowed to hit or otherwise abuse another student. Suspension may be given to students and they will be invited back pending a parent conference at school. When this becomes a repeated behavior, exclusion may be recommended to the district administration.
9. Appropriate language shall be used in and out of the building.

Snow Guidelines

1. Students cannot throw snow, snowballs or an ice chunk
2. Students cannot kick snow or ice.
3.  Students cannot put snow on another person.
4. Students can build shapes, towers, huge balls, and walls.
5. When students build structures or shapes, towers, huge balls, and walls students should show their Mountain Pride by respecting what others have built.
6. Students cannot expect the structures to be protected by the staff after their grade is off the field.
7. Students can lay in the snow.

It is advised that student don't eat the snow.

LUNCHROOM CONDUCT

Our lunchroom is designed to be a place where students can come and enjoy a meal with their classmates. While at lunch students are expected to behave in the following manner:

1. Show respect for the supervisors at all times.
2. Use an appropriate volume level when talking to friends. Yelling is not allowed.
3. Help keep the cafeteria clean by picking up all garbage around your table and on the floor. Never throw food or touch another student's lunch.
4. Never run in the cafeteria and don't switch places once you are seated.
5. All food and trash must stay in the lunchroom in order to avoid littering of the playground.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Regular attendance is the key to academic success and is state-mandated. Students should be in school unless they are sick or otherwise incapacitated. Please call the school if your student is ill and you are keeping him/her home. Habitual absences and/or repeated tardies may result in disciplinary actions.
Students should arrive on campus no earlier than 8:30 a.m. unless they are participating in an early-morning activity or eating breakfast. For safety reasons, please don't send your students to school early. There is no supervision on the playground. Supervision begins at 8:25 am outside so for the safety of your child we ask that students do not arrive to school until 8:25 am unless they are eating breakfast at 8:20 am. Students will not be invited into the building unless weather is intolerable. Our staff uses this time to finish preparations for the school day.

DRESS CODE

Student dress is one of those judgment issues that is a constant challenge for all staff, teachers, and the administration. There is ample evidence to show that student dress is a factor in learning. Jordan School District's "Dress Code” is as follows:

1. All students will be required to wear clean clothing. Clothing which is so conspicuous, extreme, or so odd as to draw undue attention, disrupt or tend to disrupt the learning atmosphere will not be allowed.
2. Students will not be allowed to wear clothing that is mutilated, cut off or immodest such as: short-shorts, bare midriffs, halter tops, tank tops, pants with holes, shirts and vulgar or offensive sayings, or other extreme attire. Knee-length clothing is acceptable. Trench coats are not to be in school.
3. In the interest of good health and hygiene, proper footwear will be worn at all times.
4. Please make certain your children dress appropriately for the cold weather. Your students will have one or two short outside recesses each day. Students perform better as a result of these short activity breaks, but need to be dressed for outside conditions.
5. Hats of any kind are prohibited within the building except when hats are approved as part of a special student activity.
6. Shoes with wheels (Heelys) will not be permitted at school at any time.

CHECKING-IN AND CHECKING-OUT

Our first concern is the safety of our students. Once students arrive on campus, they will not be allowed to leave except with a parent or a parent designee. To check your student out of school, report to the office and sign him/her out. Do not go directly to the classroom to check out your student. At no time will we allow a student to walk home.

CITIZENSHIP PLAN

Majestic Elementary School’s Citizenship Plan is focused on respect. It is based on the premise that teachers have a right to teach and students a have a right to learn. No one has the right to interfere with the teaching/learning process, nor violate the best interest of any individual in the school community.

This plan establishes a consistent, systematic approach to deal with both appropriate and inappropriate student behavior. Students are taught what is expected of them in the classroom, on the school grounds, on the bus, and in the common areas of the building. Students know the consequences for inappropriate behavior and the recognition for appropriate behavior.

This consistent, systematic approach enables each student to be secure in understanding the conduct expected of him/her for kindergarten through sixth grade. Each student is empowered to reach the worthwhile goal of self-discipline!

THE CLASSROOM PLAN

The first component in every classroom is positive reinforcement of proper behavior. Students are frequently recognized for displaying appropriate behavior. Following is a list of ways students may be recognized:

1. Positive praise.
2. Positive phone call or notes home.
3. Classroom/Grade Level rewards.
4. Good "Trips to the Principal.”
5. Good CitizenActivities.
6. Mountain Lion Pride tickets.

Each classroom will have rules and consequences posted. These rules will allow teaching and learning to take place.

THE PRINCIPAL'S PLAN

The focus of the administration is to recognize and encourage positive behavior. Students are sent to the office with good principal notes, and are encouraged to continue with their positive behavior. When a student is sent to the principal's office for negative behavior, it will be handled in the following manner:

1. Conferences with student.
2. Parent contact and/or conference.
3. Reflection Assignment.
4. In-School Suspension
5. Out-of-School Suspension.
6. Behavioral Contract.

Severe or repeated behaviors may result in more severe consequences. Fighting, vandalism, overt defiance, and stopping a class from functioning are all reasons that a student would be sent directly to the principal.

PHONE CALLS

We have a limited number of phone lines. Please talk with your child about what to do if the weather is poor. Students may only use a phone pass for emergencies.

INTRODUCCIÓN

Majestic Elementary es una escuela excelente donde los profesores, los estudiantes, el principal, y el personal trabajan juntos para crear un ambiente de aprendizaje limpio y seguro. Cuando trabajamos juntos, tendremos una escuela eficaz donde los estudiantes se sienten confidentes y felices mientras ellos aprenden.

El RESPETO es una palabra clave en Majestic Elementary. Respeto para mí, respeto para otros y respeto para la propiedad son elementos esenciales del éxito escolar. Todos los pedazos de este Código de la Conducta están relacionados con la idea de RESPETO.

POLÍTICA ESCOLAR SEGURA

La conducta siguiente es considerada peligrosa y/o perjudicial y es prohibida en la propiedad escolar en cualquier momento.

1. Poseyendo o trayendo a cualquier artículo potencialmente dañoso (incluso pero no limitado con armas, cuchillos, armas, explosivos, artículos venenosos, o materiales inflamables).
2. La posesión o trayendo a cualquier artículo que no puede ser legalmente poseído por un menor (incluso, pero no limitado con alcohol, tabaco, medicinas, o medicación no autorizada).
3. Posesión o trayendo a cualquier facsímile de los artículos mencionados en #1-2 (incluso, pero no limitado para jugar armas, cuchillos de bolsillo, parafernalia de medicina, o artículos representados como medicinas).
4. El intento, las amenazas, la conspiración, o la comisión de cualquier acto que podría causar el daño a otros o a la escuela (incluso pero no limitó con robo, vandalismo, asalto, incendio provocado, acoso sexual, intimidación, o actividades relacionadas con la cuadrilla).

Los estudiantes que violan la Política Escolar Segura afrontarán la acción disciplinaria en la forma de restitución, suspensión, o retiro de la escuela.

CONDUCTA EN EL Baño

Se espera que estudiantes muestren el juicio bueno y el comportamiento apropiado en todas las áreas del baño.

• Ser limpios y tener hábitos sanos son muy importantes. Siempre baja la tasa del baño y lave sus manos.
• Ser considerado de la gente que usa los servicios después de usted. Por favor déjelo limpio.
• El baño no son sitios para encontrarse con sus amigos.
• Estudiantes que escriben en paredes o dañan la propiedad del baño será esperado pagar para aquellas reparaciones y recibir la acción disciplinaria apropiada.

BICICLETAS, DESLIZADORES, MONOPATINES, LÁMINAS DE RODILLO

La escuela no puede asumir la responsabilidad de bicicletas o deslizadores robadas, perdidas, o dañadas. Majestic proporciona soportes y jaulas para asegurar las bicicletas y deslizadores. Para la seguridad adicional, usted querrá proveer a su estudiante con una cerradura de bicicletas o deslizadores. Los deslizadores deben ser almacenados en el soporte para bicicletas. No hay bastante espacio en los salones de clase para guardarlos. A estudiantes no les permiten montar sus bicicletas o deslizadores durante horas escolares. Ellos no deben andar en ellos mientras que están en tierras escolares o cruzando en la cruz anda. A estudiantes no les permiten jugar en o alrededor de las jaulas de bicicleta ni subirlas.
MONOPATINES O LÁMINAS DE RODILLO nunca son permitidos en la escuela debido al peligro que proponen y de los problemas con el almacenaje. CONDUCTA EN EL EDIFICIO

El correr en la escuela no es permitido. Se esperará que estudiantes dejen y entren en el edificio en una manera ordenada, tranquila y segura, usando sus puertas apropiadas. También se espera que estudiantes anden a sus áreas de actividad en una línea como dirigido por su profesor. Los juguetes y cualquier otro artículo considerado perjudicial al ambiente de aprendizaje no deberían ser traídos a la escuela.

CONDUCTA DE PROGRAMA ESPECIAL

Hemos pedido que algunos programas especiales vengan a nuestra escuela. Estos programas son para la educación y el placer de todos los estudiantes. Cuando estamos en el auditorio, es siempre para una ocasión especial. Los estudiantes y los padres deberían mostrar el respeto a ejecutantes de los modos siguientes:

1. Estar atento y permanecer silenciosamente asentado durante la interpretación.
2. Es apropiado mostrar su apreciación para un trabajo bien hecho por cortésmente aplaudiendo. (Ni el silbido ni el abucheo son apropiados).
3. Entra y salga el auditorio rápidamente y silenciosamente en la dirección de su profesor.

CONDUCTA DE PATIO

Las reglas de patio son necesarias para contribuir a la seguridad total y el placer para que todos los estudiantes disfruten del receso:

1. Los estudiantes no deberían jugar en las áreas siguientes:
   1. Céspedes delanteros o aceras.
   2. Cualquiera de los aparcamientos.
   3. Las áreas negras que no pueden ser vistas por los supervisores de patio.
   4. Soportes para bicicletas.
   5. En árboles.
   6. Por o detrás de cobertizos o aulas portátiles.
2. Las pelotas, las cuerdas de saltar, los columpios, los resbaladizos, y otro equipo deberían ser usados correctamente y sin peligro.
3. Permitir que todos los estudiantes participen en juegos organizados (es decir fútbol, baloncesto, béisbol, etc.)
4. Juegos que se usan contacto completo, incluyendo el abordaje, el paso ligero, la lucha libre, o empujar no será permitido en la escuela.
5. Dejar la nieve y las rocas en la tierra. Tirando objetos de cualquier clase no es permitido en las tierras escolares.
6. El deslizamiento en el hielo o céspedes no es permitido.
7. Tratar los adultos quien están supervisando el patio con respeto.
8. Los enfrentamientos no son permitidos en nuestra escuela. A nadie le permitirán golpear o abusar de otro estudiante. La suspensión puede ser dada a estudiantes y ellos serán invitados atrás pendientes una conferencia paternal en la escuela. Cuando este se hace un comportamiento repetido, la exclusión puede ser recomendada a la administración del distrito.
9. La lengua apropiada será usada afuera y adentro del edificio.

CONDUCTA DE CAFETERÍA

Nuestra cafetería es diseñada para ser un lugar donde los estudiantes pueden venir y disfrutar de una comida con sus compañeros de clase. Mientras en el almuerzo se espera que estudiantes se comporten en la manera siguiente:

1. Respeto de espectáculo para los supervisores siempre.
2. Usar un volumen de voz apropiado dirigiéndose a amigos. Los gritos no son permitidos.
3. Ayúdanos guardar la cafetería limpia recogiendo toda la basura alrededor de su mesa y en el suelo. Nunca avienta la comida o tocar el almuerzo de otro estudiante.
4. Nunca corren en la cafetería y no cambian sitios después usted está asentado.
5. Todo el alimento y la basura deben quedarse en la cafetería a fin de evitar ensuciar del patio.

POLÍTICA DE ASISTENCIA

La asistencia regular es la llave al éxito académico y es mandado por el estado. Los estudiantes deberían ser en la escuela a menos que ellos estén enfermos o por otra parte incapacitados. Por favor llame la escuela si su estudiante está enfermo y se va a quedar en la casa. Las ausencias habituales y/o demoradas repetidas pueden causar acciones disciplinarias.
Los estudiantes deberían llegar en la escuela no antes que las 8:30 a.m. a menos que ellos participen en una actividad temprana de mañana o coman el desayuno. Por motivos de seguridad, por favor no envíe sus estudiantes a la escuela temprano. No hay ninguna supervisión en el patio. Los estudiantes no serán invitados en el edificio a menos que el clima sea intolerable. Nuestro personal usa esta tiempo para terminar preparaciones para el día escolar.

CÓDIGO DE VESTIDO

El vestido de estudiante es una de aquellas cuestiones de juicio que es un desafío constante para todo el personal, profesores, y la administración. Hay pruebas amplias para mostrar que el vestido de estudiante afecta el aprendizaje del estudiante. El Código de Vestido "de Distrito de Escuela de Jordania" es como sigue:

1. Se requerirá que todos los estudiantes lleven puesta la ropa limpia. La ropa que es tan visible, extrema, o tan rara para llamar la atención excesiva, interrumpe o puede interrumpir la atmósfera de aprendizaje no será permitido.
2. A estudiantes no les permitirán llevar puesta la ropa que es mutilada, cortada o presuntuoso como: pantalones cortos (shorts), estómagos desnudos, cumbres de cabestro, camisetas, pantalones con agujeros, camisas y refranes vulgares u ofensivos, u otro atuendo extremo. La ropa hasta la rodilla es aceptable. Las trincheras no deben ser en la escuela.
3. En el interés de salud buena e higiene, los artículos de calzado apropiados serán llevados puestos siempre.
4. Por favor haga seguro que el vestido de sus niños es apropiada para el tiempo de frío. Sus estudiantes tendrán un o dos recesos exteriores cortos cada día. Los estudiantes funcionan mejor a cuando hagan actividades cortas, pero tienen que ser vestidos para condiciones exteriores.
5. Los sombreros de cualquier clase son prohibidos dentro del edificio menos cuando los sombreros son aprobados como la parte de una actividad de estudiante especial.
6. Los zapatos con ruedas (Heelys) no serán permitidos en la escuela en cualquier momento.

METIENDO Y SACANDO EL ESTUDIANTE DURANTE LAS HORAS ESCOLARES

Nuestra primera preocupación es la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes. Una vez que los estudiantes llegan a la escuela, no les permitirán marcharse excepto con un padre o una persona designada. Para sacar su estudiante de escuela, informe a la oficina y firmar un papel de reconocimiento que lo está llevando consigo. No vaya directamente a la clase para sacar su estudiante. En ningún tiempo permitiremos que un estudiante camine a casa.

PLAN DE CIUDADANÍA ESCOLAR

El Plan de Ciudadanía de Majestic Elementary es enfocado en el respeto. Está basado en la premisa que los profesores tengan un derecho de dar clases y los estudiantes tienen un derecho de aprender. Nadie tiene el derecho de interferir con la enseñanza o proceso de aprendizaje, ni destruir el mejor interés de cualquier individuo en la comunidad escolar.

Este plan establece un acercamiento consecuente, sistemático para tratar tanto con el comportamiento de estudiante apropiado como con inadecuado. Enseñan a estudiantes lo que es esperado de ellos en la clase, en las tierras escolares, en el autobús, y en las áreas comunes del edificio. Los estudiantes saben las consecuencias para el comportamiento inadecuado y el reconocimiento para el comportamiento apropiado.

Este acercamiento consecuente, sistemático permite a cada estudiante ser seguro en el entendimiento de la conducta esperada de él/ella del jardín de infancia hasta el sexto grado. ¡Cada estudiante es autorizado para alcanzar el objetivo que vale la pena de la autodisciplina!

EL PLAN DEL CLASE

El primer componente en cada clase es el refuerzo positivo del comportamiento apropiado. Los estudiantes son con frecuencia reconocidos para mostrar el comportamiento apropiado. Lo siguiente es una lista de modos que los estudiantes pueden ser reconocidos:

1. Alabanza positiva.
2. Llamada telefónica positiva o notas a casa.
3. Recompensas de la clase o por grado.
4. "Visitas buenos al director.”
5. Actividades de cuidadnos bueno.
6. Boletos de Orgullo de puma.
7. Monedas para el Torre de Atesorar.

Cada clase tendrá reglas y consecuencias fijadas. Estas reglas permitirán que se ocurra la enseñanza y proceso de aprendizaje.

EL PLAN DEL PRINCIPAL

El foco de la administración debe reconocer y animar el comportamiento positivo. Los estudiantes son enviados a la oficina con notas buenas para el director, y son animados a seguir con su comportamiento positivo. Cuando envían un estudiante a la oficina del director para el comportamiento negativo, será manejado en la manera siguiente:

1. Conferencias con estudiante.
2. Contacto paternal y/o conferencia.
3. Asignación de reflexión.
4. Suspensión en escuela
5. Suspensión extraescolar.
6. Contrato de comportamiento.

Los comportamientos severos o repetidos pueden causar consecuencias más severas. Luchando, vandalismo, el desafío abierto, y parando una clase del funcionamiento es todos los motivos que enviarían a un estudiante directamente al director.

LLAMADAS TELEFONIECAS

Tenemos un número limitado de líneas telefónicas. Por favor hable con su niño de lo que debe hacer si la clima está mal. Los estudiantes sólo pueden usar un pase telefónico para emergencias.
